They had four children. When she wished to divorce Lord Churchill, King Edward forbade it, to avoid a scandal among his social circle. Instead she disappeared in 1909 taking their son, aged 19, and two daughters, aged 13 and 8, with her. In 1927 he obtained a divorce on the grounds of desertion. She the daughter of Henry Lowther 3rd Earl Lonsdale. He a great x 5 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. 
On 02 Apr 1888 [his brother-in-law] Charles Edwin Lowther (age 28) died.
In 1890 [his son] Victor Alexander Spencer 2nd Viscount Churchill was born to Victor Albert Francis Spencer 1st Viscount Churchill (age 25) and [his wife] Verena Maud Lowther Viscountess Churchill Wychwood (age 24).
