In 1541 William Musgrave (age 44) was appointed High Sheriff of Cumberland.

On 23 May 1542 [his father] Edward Musgrave of Hartley and Edenhall (age 81) died at Edenhall, Cumberland.

Before Jan 1543 [his brother-in-law] Thomas Burgh (age 33) died. His children had been made bastards by an Act of Parliament so were disinherited from their grand-father's baronies.

On 18 Oct 1544 William Musgrave (age 47) died at Edenhall, Cumberland.
