On 30th April 1315 Enguerrand de Marigny [aged 55] was hanged. He had been arrested on the orders of [her nephew] Louis X King France I Navarre [aged 25] at the instigation of [her half-brother] Charles of Valois [aged 45]. Twenty-eight articles of accusation including charges of receiving bribes were brought against him but none could be found to be true. Charles then brought forward a charge of sorcery which was more effectual. He was condemned at once and hanged on the public gibbet of Montfaucon.
On 14th February 1318 Margaret of France Queen Consort England [aged 39] died at Marlborough Castle [Map]. She was buried at Christ Church, Greyfriars [Map]. Her tomb was destroyed during the Reformation.
